Christiane Goudsmit was born and grew up in The Netherlands. In 1993 she came to Costa Rica in search of adventure. After traveling through Costa Rica and its neighboring countries she and her husband, Hans, decided to settle in La Garita de Alajuela.
They love this area because of the perfect climate and the many hours of sunshine! So, she picked up her former work as a real estate agent and broker and started her agency, La Garita Realty, dedicated to the area west of Alajuela.
Christiane is your Specialist in Real Estate in the area west of Alajuela and she is the first Realtor in Costa Rica who specializes in Green Properties and the know-how to evaluate them. She is also an expert in Costa Rica Real Estate Laws and Green Project Development. Interested in building a sustainable home? Hans Goudsmit has years of experience in Green Construction and is your first stop in sustainable property development.
Aside from being a professional in her line of work, she is a true animal-lover and shares a passion for horses with her two daughters. Many stray animals have been rescued and put up for adoption by her and her family.
Whether you are renting or buying Christiane will help you find the perfect home, and she has years of experience assisting ex-pats in adjusting to the culture and life in Costa Rica. From navigating the legalities of buying property in Costa Rica to advising where to shop for household goods, she goes above and beyond to make your experience as carefree as possible.
As a natural extension of their work and passions, Christiane and her husband have created a neighborhood on their own beautiful property. Villas Pom d’Or is a collection of gorgeous and spacious homes for rent. Each home has been built using green construction methods: solar electricity, an abundance of natural light and ventilation and the use of well water. It is truly a “green” oasis in La Garita.
You can trust her to keep your needs in mind during the entire process. She is fluent in Spanish, English, Dutch, German and French and loves her work!
Why La Garita?
According to the National Geographic the area of La Garita and Atenas has the best climate in the world!
During the rainy season, when it is pouring rain in the San José/Escazu area around noon, the sun still shines in La Garita and temperatures remain at 24C (75F.). This is one of the reasons why the upper-class of San José have always had country houses in this beautiful, tranquil area.
Location, Location, Location
In recent years, Highway 27 was built, allowing La Garita residents to reach San José and Escazu within 15 minutes. The beach? A mere 45-minute drive away!
Still, because of strict zoning laws that don’t allow high-density or high-rise construction, La Garita remains a world apart, far from the crowds and traffic-jams of the cities, a place where you can still leave your keys in the car, where people are friendly and helpful, where you can hear the birds singing in the mornings. Foreigners soon discovered this area and settled here.
La Garita is home to a plethora of beautiful plant nurseries, Zoo Ave–the best educational bird-rescue center in Costa Rica, the renowned international Business School (INCAE) and the many delicious, local restaurants. There is a lot to do in and around La Garita !
La Garita is just minutes away from Alajuela, the second-largest city in Costa Rica. In Alajuela, you will find amenities such as:
- International Airport (SJO)
- Beautiful Plazas
- Excellent hospitals
- Historic buildings
Here you can truly live the Pura Vida, the Pure Life, amidst a wonderful mix of neighbors that will either be from all over the world or Ticos who have embraced their international neighbors with open arms. There are few places in Costa Rica as tranquil, beautiful and conveniently located as La Garita. Come and see for yourself!
